Salome Rigvava is a Georgian-born, New York–based artist working primarily in oil painting. Her practice explores femininity, emotional landscapes, personal memory, and the inner worlds of women.
Her work is rooted in introspection and an interest in transitional states between innocence and awareness, childhood and adulthood, intimacy and solitude. Through figures, animals, symbolic imagery, and dreamlike environments, she creates visual metaphors for psychological states and emotions that often remain unspoken.
In recent years, her child’s drawings have become an important influence, bringing a greater sense of spontaneity, intuition, and freedom into her painting process.
Rigvava received her MFA from the New York Academy of Art and previously studied at the State Academy of Art and Design Stuttgart and the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
